5 Week Courses: Ski: CSIA Level 1 Snowboard: CASI Level 1 Date range: Nov – Dec Suitable for: Intermediate to advanced levels. You must be able to ski or ride with confidence and control on intermediate terrain. The 5 week courses include a Lake Louise ski area pass. If you are planning to stay on in the resort after the course, you do have the option to upgrade to a Ski Big 3 pass (which would need to be purchased prior to travel). Please refer to weeks 1 - 5 of the 12 week ski or snowboard course outlines below to find out what the courses cover. 12 Week Courses: Ski: CSIA Level 1 and Level 2* Snowboard: CASI Level 1 and Level 2* Date range: Jan – Mar/Apr Suitable for: Competent intermediate to advanced levels The 12 week courses in Lake Louise include a Ski Big 3 lift pass, therefore providing the opportunity for you to also ski or snowboard at Sunshine Village and Norquay in your spare time. *The CSIA/CASI Level 2 exam fee is payable in resort. 12 week Ski Instructor Course outline: Week 1: Ski improvement through skills & concepts of the CSIA Week 2: Technique and the 5 skills - timing/co-ordination, stance/balance and how they relate to pivoting, edging and pressure control in the phases of the turn Week 3: Developing the guest experience. Technique and skill development. Student centered teaching. Guest service Week 4: Assessment and development training. Ski off review Week 5: CSIA Level 1 course/exam Week 6: Forces in skiing related to movement in motion Week 7: Intro to short turns and terrain Week 8: Developing the guest experience. Technique and skill development. Student centered teaching. Guest service Week 9: Assessment and development training and toolbox. Learning to develop skills through tactics Week 10: Review week. Ski off Week 11: CSIA Level 2 course/exam Week 12: Fun, fun, fun! Put into practice all the skills and techniques you have learnt with the instructors in a fun, relaxed environment and free of exam pressure. You will be amazed at your accomplishments! 12 week Snowboard Instructor Course outline: Week 1: Basic rider improvement. Standardization Week 2: Teaching theory and the 5 skills - timing/co-ordination, stance/balance and how they relate to pivoting, edging and pressure control in the phases of the turn Week 3: Progression. Level 1 material Week 4: Analysis and improvement. Practice teach Week 5: CASI Level 1 course/exam Week 6: Riding skills and introduction to terrain Week 7: The 5 skills, whole-part-whole Week 8: Sliding turns Week 9: Carving turns Week 10: Advanced analysis. Practice teaching Week 11: CASI Level 2 course/exam Week 12: Fun, fun, fun! Put into practice all the skills and techniques you have learnt with the instructors in a fun, relaxed environment and free of exam pressure. You will be amazed at your accomplishments!
