12 Week Courses: Ski: CSIA Level 1 and Level 2* Snowboard: CASI Level 1 and Level 2* Date range: Jan – Mar/Apr Suitable for: Intermediate to advanced levels. You must be able to ski or ride with confidence and control on intermediate terrain. *Level 2 exam fee is payable in resort 12 week Ski Instructor Course outline: Week 1: Address stance issues, the concepts of movement & motion, centre of mass and base of support. Week 2: Introduction to CSIA terminology and the 5 skills that define ski technique - timing/co-ordination, stance/balance & how they relate to pivoting, edging & pressure control in the phases of the turn Week 3: Review of skiing standards, proper mechanics and a focus on the teaching portion Week 4: Focus on the teaching portion Week 5: CSIA Level 1 Week 6: Level 1 review and focus on powder, bumps and tree skiing with emphasis on short turns Week 7: Weather permitting, a focus on race training including line interpretation and course visualisation Week 8: Powder, bumps and bushes. An in-depth look at terrain adaptation, focussing on the skill of pressure control Week 9: Preparations for Level 2 and time devoted to demonstrations and advanced skiing in all situations Week 10: Focus on the assessment and development phases of teaching, practising full lesson formats Week 11: CSIA Level 2 course/exam Week 12: Fun, fun, fun! Put into practice all the skills and techniques you have learnt with the instructors in a fun, relaxed environment and free of exam pressure. You will be amazed at your accomplishments! 12 week Snowboard Instructor Course sample programme: Week 1: Basic rider improvement, filming & focus on group safety Week 2: Skill day. Freestyle skill day. CASI day. Freeride day Week 3: Skill days with filming. Freestyle skill day. CASI day Week 4: Practice teaching Week 5: CASI Level 1 course/exam Week 6: Riding skills, filming & introduction to terrain and park Week 7: Skills, freestyle & filming Week 8 CASI, skills, freestyle & filming Week 9: CASI & the 5 skills Week 10: CASI Level 2 prep Week 11: CASI Level 2 course/exam Week 12: Fun, fun, fun!
