Once certified as a PADI Divemaster or Instructor

As a qualified PADI Divemaster, you may:

  • Work with local dive centres, on live-aboard dive boats, yachts and at exotic resort locations

  • Assist PADI Instructors with scuba classes

  • Lead PADI Scuba Divers on guided dive tours

  • Teach and certify PADI Skin Divers

  • Conduct PADI Scuba Review programs for certified divers

  • Conduct Discover Local Diving orientations

  • Teach The Digital Underwater Photographer Specialty Course after successfully completing a Digital Underwater Speciality Instructor Training Course

  • Conduct DSDs after being certified as DSD Leader

In Malta, only an Instructor may conduct dives for clients less than Advanced Open Water.

As a PADI Assistant Instructor, you may:

  • Teach knowledge development (classroom) presentations – under indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor

  • Evaluate Open Water Dive surface skills – under indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor

  • Teach the Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course

  • Teach the Project AWARE Specialty course

  • Teach the AWARE Coral Reef Conservation Specialty course

  • Conduct PADI Discover Scuba experiences

  • Teach Emergency First Response courses after successfully completing the Emergency First Response Instructor Course

Instructor Level Continuing Education

Developing you dive skills, knowledge and exeprience doesn't really end. As a PADI Instructor, you can increase your status and profile by becoming a PADI Specialty Instructor, Emergency First Response ™ Instructor or a Master Scuba Diver Trainer. Dive professionals who have the right skills can work anywhere in the world.

Special Credentials

As well as taking PADI continuing education courses to further your career, learning new skills or adding to existing skills will make you more attractive to potential employers. These include compressor maintenance and repair, boat piloting, dive equipment repair and maintenance, sales and marketing skills, pool maintenance, photography/videography and customer service skills.
